Stricter rules of hiring foreign workers:

The government invoked Section 44 of current constitution to delay the enforcement of the executive decree on foreign workers for 120 days after its harsher penalties led to a mass exodus of Myanmar workers. Three sections of the decree, which took effects on June 23, stipulate that (1) migrants who work without a permit will face a jail term up to five years or a maximum fine of Bt100k; (2) employers who hire migrants for jobs prohibited to foreigners or employ those without work permits will face a fine of Bt400k‐800k per worker; and (3) employers who have assigned migrant workers to do jobs that do not match what is specified in their work permits will face a fine of Bt400k‐800k per worker.
